If you want to start rebuilding your credit, look for a secured credit card. It'll be reported like a regular one, but you put the money on it that'll be used, sorta like a debit card but this one helps your credit.

With the credit crunch that is going on currently, you won't be able to apply for at least 3-7 years.

If you reaffirmed any secured creditors, you are already rebuilding your credit. (Reaffirmed means that you signed an agreement with the creditor and filed with the court that you will pay for and keep the security usually according to the original terms of the loan.) Otherwise, most people are offered new credit within a matter of months. With the current economic climate, credit is supposed to be tightening, but creditors like Capital One, Juniper Bank and Orchard Bank still offer rebuilding type credit cards. Other decent options include car loans and secured credit cards.

But always remember to use credit sparingly, as it was credit that caused you to file bankruptcy in the first place.

Is your business a corporation? Does it have a D&B rating?

If not, my guess is that you personally guaranteed those credit cards.

some places will tell you your score when you apply for something. I suggest trying a credit monitoring company, your bank should be able to recommend you to a good place.

credit-report-score.10001mb.com - try this site. I use it to monitor my credit and also cleaned off some bad items from my credit report. You can apply for free initial plan and get your scores and reports for free.

Like everyone else, you have many, many credit scores. You can check one of these credit scores for free at http://www.creditkarma.com for free without a credit card. That particular credit score is used only by one website and not by any lenders, but the same could be true of many of the credit scores that are not free.

You can access your free annual credit report from each of the three credit bureaus online thru AnnualCreditReport.com. Reports are free, scores are not.

You can purchase your FICO score for about $8 when you get your Equifax report. Creditors use FICO. The TransUnion and Experian sites sell you Vantage scores -- don't waste your money. You can purchase FICO scores for TransUnion and Equifax at MyFico.com. Consumers can no longer get FICO scores for Experian. Also, those third party monitoring sites use Fakko scores.

CreditKarma.com offers a free score estimator based on your TransUnion report. It's not FICO. But it's kinda, sorta like FICO, give or take 50 points or so. Close enough if you are just curious about your score.
